My background has built the designer I am today. My architecture background at Miami University and my work experience at Schneller and Weber Associates have developed and refined my design and professional skills. My involvement in Alpha Rho Chi, the National Professional Fraternity for Architecture and the Allied Arts, has nurtured my communication and leadership skills.
my journey
Miami University: Architecture
2008 – 2012
Graduated in 2012 from Miami University with a B.A. in Architecture.
At Miami, I learned the foundation of design and design software. I also learned to be deliberate with my design decisions, the importance of paying attention to details, and how to solve problems with my designs. The most important thing I learned was that architects needed to know a lot about many subjects. I applied this to my design philosophy, striving to know my client’s products and industries.
Alpha Rho Chi: Colony President
2010 – 2011
Served as Colony President of Miami University’s chapter of the Alpha Rho Chi.
As Colony President, I learned how hard it is to lead 50 people through a multi-semester petition process, especially as architecture majors. It’s easy to accomplish something yourself but motivating a group to see your vision is challenging. This process helped develop my communication, time management, and leadership skills
Schneller: Design Assistant
2012 – 2013
Worked as a Design Assistant at Schneller, a company that produces decorate laminates for commercial aircrafts and railcars.
At Schneller, I refined my layout and typography skills while working on marketing materials. I expanded my design skills into laminate design, learning about color theory, the impact of light on color, and how to create vector and bitmap repeats.
Alpha Rho Chi: Regional Director
2013 – 2017
After graduation, I served in a volunteer position as a Regional Director for Alpha Rho Chi.
As a regional director, I worked on my people skills. Learning how different people liked to communicate, crisis, and risk management skills and how to give a variety of workshops to my chapters.
Weber Associates: Graphic Designer
2014 – Present
Currently working as a Graphic Designer for Weber Associates, a marketing and consulting agency that serves the telecommunications, insurance, and financial industries.
Weber was where I really flourished as a design professional. I learned the importance of being good and fast, expanding my skills beyond being “just a designer” and creating concept options that pass the “squint” test. I developed several strong relationships with my clients, proving myself as a subject expert on their industries and products.
